Our programme has afforded our beneficiaries with opportunities to change their
lives for the better. Since the establishment of the Shelter we have placed beneficiaries
in learnerships at the following companies and institutions.
a) 36 qualified as Motor Mechanics and are currently permanently employed
by SAPS Garages in Silverton, Benoni and Diepkloof thus are sustaining themselves.
b) 18 are employed by Gallagher Estate via Inn Staff as hospitality personnel
c) 17 are employed by AIB Confectioners in Centurion
d) 19 are employed by ADT Security in Pretoria
e) 14 are employed by Leondale Security in Silverton
f) 6 are employed by Mr. Price in Menlyn
g) 42 are employed by the Rustenburg Contractors either as bricklayers or
assistant for the RDP housing project.
h) 19 are employed by ABI (Coke) in Hercules Pretoria North
i) 2 are employed at the Mineral and Energy Department
j) 1 is understudying a Diploma in Accounting at the Garakuwa TUT
k) 8 are employed by the Waste Management in the City of Tshwane
l) 58 completed and passed Computer Literacy (MS Word and Excel)
m) 1 is doing Radio & TV presenting learnership with Ikangala Community Radio
Station.
n) 9 are currently doing the Jewellery programme at TUT Atteridgeville
o) 10 are doing the construction and building programme with Desto in Hammanskraal.
We are also a service provider entrusted with the responsibility of distributing
food parcels to the poor and needy families in the whole North Rand Region (Pretoria
and surrounding areas). Provision of food is complimented by skills training to
key beneficiaries of each family that receives food assistance. This is an intervention
programme whereas before, the poor opt for survival through crime, prostitution
or any socially ill methods, positive intervention is administered. Under this scenario
we have managed to reach out to 2087 families.
In summary, we have managed to fully empower formerly Homeless and Destitute Youths
as well as administer social relief food distribution and skills training under
our crime intervention programme.
It is our strongest belief that crime combating is a collective social responsibility,
which we stand to say, if we succeeded to empower these beneficiaries with our limited
resources and with added resources through other donors we should be able to reach
out to more beneficiaries receiving our services. Prospectively, we will be encroaching
towards a crime free South Africa.
